How to create a Minecraft Server: Complete Guide

3 Mins read

Many players are building blocks on Minecraft, playing games with one another on the web, or playing a game together. The number of players and types of games varies depending on how many servers are available over the Internet. In this article, you will learn how to create a Minecraft Server of your own.

Additionally, if you wish to customize your gaming experience while playing in multiplayer mode, you must create your own server.

Minecraft Servers: What do they do?

Minecraft, an extremely successful video game released by Mojang in 2009, was the subject of a number of commercially successful video game servers. The server is owned by an individual player or an organization on behalf of an individual user who includes them in the game.

Here, the term “server” often refers to a shared server network, instead of a static machine.

Hypixel is the most popular Minecraft server provider. You can host a Minecraft server on your own PC, through a host, using a dedicated hosting plan with guaranteed uptime, or through Mojang’s servers.

It is recommended to hire a professional maintenance company to manage the server. Additionally, administrators can download additional plugins to change server settings, such as changing the preferences of the server, adding commands, and restricting access to specific users or IP addresses.

A multiplayer server can handle a wide range of activities, with each server having its own unique set of features and rules. Some servers allow player-to-player combat, while others use custom plugins that add functionality not available in vanilla game versions.

Where can I find Minecraft servers?

If you don’t have technical skills or don’t want to set up your own server, you can just join an existing Minecraft server. The Minecraft website lists available servers and their addresses, slot numbers, and version requirements.

Additional parameters can also be selected to narrow down the server list. For example, the RPG option indicates that only servers dedicated to role-playing games are disclosed. Conversely, one can discover servers dedicated to survival games where players can create structures and fight to survive.

Minecraft: Why should you host it?

A server administrator can set the rules for the game you are allowed to play at his/her discretion. If you’re interested in a full-featured Minecraft experience where you have the choice of a mode and rules that go with it, you should consider running your own server.

Dedicated servers are ideal for playing Minecraft if the server needs to be open and reachable for many players. They provide the performance necessary for multi-player mode with the full capabilities of the hardware.

What are the steps for setting up a Minecraft server?

It is not too tricky, but you do need some technical knowledge to administer the Minecraft server, just as it does for any type of server.

The steps to take are as follow the steps to install the Minecraft server:

Step 1: Install the latest Java version if you didn’t already have it.

Step 2: installing the latest version of Minecraft server software;

Step 3: Configuring the network and the server;

Step 4: launch the server;

Step5: make sure the server can be reached.

How to create a dedicated Minecraft server on Windows

To create a Minecraft server on Windows, select the folder in your PC from which to launch the servers after logging into your dedicated server and checking that the latest Java version is installed.

In addition, it is essential to:

  • Download the Minecraft server program for Windows from the official Minecraft page and save the .jar in the destination folder;
  • right-click the file, choose Run as administrator, and the server will start and the configuration files will be created;
  • acceptance of the EULA files by changing the single line “eula = false” to “eula = true” in the text document “eula.txt”;
  • Make sure that an open door is available on the online server for others to access. It is generally recommended to leave port 25565 open, regardless of the server.properties file which port the server should be accessible from. Additionally, the local server IP address must be set as the Output IP (or Server IP) for the configured port, so the router knows which device is using that port. You need to open Command Prompt and enter the /ipconfig command to find out the local IP address of the server;
  • launch the server by running java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar current server file name nogui. You have to exclude the “nogui” parameter if you want to use the server user interface.
